Writer's Block: 9/11

Where were you?
and we knew we were being attacked.

The towers fell and a fourth plane crashed only 300 miles away outside Shanksville.  No one knew what to do or what was to come.  We spent the day watching news coverage of the attacks, truly scared for the first time in our lives that we weren't safe in this country anymore.

The Ever Sinking Ship

The greatest love stories ever told aren't about the ones who make it. They're about the ones who don't.

Best Christmas Present Ever!

This is my new dog Miley! My mom bought her for me after years of begging.

My Life Sucks

Just got a job. Pay is decent. Hours suck. But I need money and my mother knew somebody hiring. All I can think about is all the money I paid to get a degree which isn't helping me at all. Maybe I should just go back to school. Get my Masters. Get a real job. Something 9-5 with a decent salary.

Wimbledon (Days 5 and 6)

17 year-old Melanie Oudin stuns former No. 1 Jelena Jankovic to advance to the Round of 16.

Jesse Levine lost to Stanislas Wawrinka.

Sabine Lisicki upset Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Roddick all advanced to the Round of 16.

and Serena Williams also advanced.

Tommy Haas closed out his 3rd Round match 10-8 in the 5th narrowly avoiding a major meltdown after a bad game in the 4th set.

Tomas Berdych bet Nikolay Davydenko for the first time in his career.

The new roof has yet to see any action (*except to shade the royal box). The Championships have been uncharacteristically dry this year.

Wimbledon (Days 3 and 4)

Maria Sharapova was upset in the second round by Gisela Dulko. Not really a shocker. Sharapova hasn't been the same since she came back from that nasty shoulder injury.

Americans Andy Roddick, Venus Williams, Mardy Fish, Jesse Levine, Melanie Oudin, and Serena Williams all advanced to Round 3.

Lleyton Hewitt had the upset of the week so far beating 5th seed Juan Martin Del Potro.

Andy Murray advanced easily and seems to be carrying the weight of a country's expectations pretty well. We'll see if that lasts as play progresses.

Wimbledon (Days 1 and 2)

My absolute favorite tennis tournament just started and I find that I am having a lot more trouble than usual getting up in time to watch some of the earlier matches. This does not bode well for the rest of the tournament.

Roger Federer looks like a fool in his white and gold suit. This a tennis tournament not a fashion show. I hope Nike is paying him a lot of money to wear that ridiculous thing.

Andy Roddick is through to the 2nd Round.

Novak Djokovic looks like he's going to have another short stay in London unless he can get over whatever problem he's having with his footing/ slipping and sliding all over the grass.

Dinara Safina also really hates the grass but she better do well in this tourney unless she wants to look like she's even less deserving of the number one seed than most people already think she is. At least. she won her first round match unlike her brother.

Serena Williams' ego is as large as ever but at least she has the talent to back it up. Let's not have a repeat of the infamous oncourt screaming and rolling around in pain from leg cramps like in 07.  BTW, how could she possibly have won that match? Hantuchova seriously chocked.

Lleyton Hewitt is still a jerk. He should either keep his mouth shut or retire already.

James Blake was upset. Poor guy. He hasn't had much luck in slams this year.

Random + Random = Story Of My Life

I just wanted an excuse to use my new icon. I love it! Lady Gaga!!

Life Sucks

Still no luck with the job search. This is getting pathetic.

Alas, I may be forced into grad school after all.

Oh, Andy!

Well what did you expect? It's an American man at the French Open playing a Frenchman. That just spells lose, alright?

I'm afraid he's not going to be winning anymore slams in his career.  He still can't beat Federer (Or Nadal . . . Or Murray . . . Or Djokovic).

Prediction: Gonzalez v. Federer in the final with Fed finally completing the grand slam. (Barf!)
